I am a father to two beautiful children. I have a 10 yrs old daughter and a 8 yrs old son. They are my pride and joy and my life. They may not realize it but it's a love that a parent has for their children. This love and bond is difficult to describe. In the Bible verse of John 3:16, New International Version (NIV) "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." In the Bible verse John 15:13 (NIV), "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." When I became a parent, these passages provided new insight of a deeper love. This love is Agape, God's sacrificial love for everyone. There are four Greek words for the word Love and three are found in the bible. They are Agape, Eros, Philia, and Storge. I have described them below.
Greek | Description |
---|---|
Agape | True unconditional love, spiritual and selfless; it gives and expects nothing in return |
Eros | Physical, intimate, passionate love |
Philia | Mental, affectionate and friendship love |
Storge | Affection, acceptance or relationships within the family |
